Farm Internship - FAQ

Ideal for students, community builders, aspiring growers, and garden enthusiasts and those who like to work with local food systems and want to learn human-scale regenerative farming by doing the real work.

Although previous gardening or growing experience will be an asset, it is not required. Curiosity, commitment, and being a team player that keeps a positive attitude is all you need!

This is an experiential learning program. Teaching happens throughout the daily work on the farm. You learn by doing: tasks are explained, demonstrated, practiced, and reflected on as part of the workflow. We do include several structured learning sessions, but this is not a classroom-style program. You are expected to learn the content in a way that you would be able to teach to other team members.

• Market gardening and small-scale farming practices

• Bed prep, planting, cultivation, harvest, and post-harvest workflows

• Working with different parts of a local food system such as Restaurants, Community Supported Agriculture model (CSA), Food Cooperatives and Wholesellers

• Record-keeping, financial and crop planning

• Sales and marketing strategies, economic breakdown of a small profitable farm

• Financial and crop planning

• Team leadership and management, teaching skills

• Seasonal cooking and food preservation connected to what is grown

It takes a lot of work to grow food and while it can be physically and mentally challenging, it is extremely rewarding! We work in teams and collectively get things done. Expect to lift, carry, bend, stand, and work outdoors rain or shine. If you cannot handle physical field work, this program will not be a good fit for you.

Minimum commitment is 3 months and we do prioritise those candidates who would like to stay longer and learn more with us. We are located in Skåne, Sweden only 45 mins away from Malmö and 20 mins from Lund

Each year, we receive around 100 applications. From these, we carefully select the 16 most motivated candidates, based on their personalities, skills and their short/ long-term goals. This ensures we choose those who are the best fit for our program and its mission.

Graduates often:

• Start small similar farms or community gardens

• Work in sustainable and regenerative agriculture field,

• Work with local bakeries, restaurants, or food production

• Lead sustainability and food system projects

• Continue related academic studies

We encourage continued support and collaboration beyond the internship.

We occasionally host farm-to-table events, workshops and study visits as well as community days for our members and chefs that we work with. You get to be part of organizing and running these events with us.

No. This is a training-based educational internship offering skills, mentorship, and real farm experience.

We do not provide accommodation as part of our internship program. The Culinary Farm is an education-focused, professional training program, and interns are responsible for arranging their own housing. That said, we’re happy to connect accepted interns with local neighbors who sometimes have guesthouses or rooms available to rent at an affordable price.

You will have access to a farm car during the season to get around the farm. We’ll explain the guidelines and scheduling once you’re accepted.
